Rephrase.ai, a Bangalore-based AI video platform that uses facial-reenactment technology, recently raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round. LightSpeed Ventures and AV8 Ventures led the round. Rephrase.ai will use these funds to scale its AI-powered synthetic media production platform, commercialize itself in North America, and expand its employee base in Bengaluru’s headquarters.
Rephrase.ai creates personalized videos just by text, without the production cost and effort of going to a studio and hiring actors. It helps in creating high-quality videos and animations through an AI-powered visual dubbing tool. Its video creation technology is designed to take any input text and then create a video of a person speaking that text. The company’s video creation technology uses generative AI tools to learn people’s facial features corresponding to any spoken audio. It then reconstructs photorealistic faces for any new given text or audio, enabling clients to create training videos, personalize videos for sales, make characters speak in augmented or virtual reality, and provide a face to digital assistants.
The company claims to see demands from various companies like digital marketing agencies and industries such as automotive, entertainment, financial services, e-commerce, and real estate. Rephrase.ai was among the ten startups that were part of the 2019 TechStars India Accelerator program. In the current COVID-19 situation, the scope for automated technologies is immense in all the major sectors, including sales and marketing. Rephrase.ai claims that its solution will change how we think about video production for business communication today and filmmaking in the future.
