Asif:  Tell us about your educational background and your current ventures?

Jessica: Attended UC Berkeley, Class of 2011 with a B.A. in Political Science

I’m the CEO of Hikinex (pronounced “Hi-Connects”) and am working with an amazing team to deliver B2B Sales and Marketing support to our Clients by creating, deploying, and managing on-demand cross-functional teams. Our offshore and onshore teams work seamlessly together to provide cost-efficient and truly scalable support to growing businesses.

Asif: How did you get started in HIKINEX? Tell us about your journey

Jessica: I joined the investment group, BBAGC LLC, last year as its Chief of Staff. Hikinex, then ContactMyAdmin (CMA), was among one of their investments. The SF company had been founded in 2016 as a startup that provided virtual assistant services for busy executives. The company was pivoting to provide enterprise support services when I was asked by the board to lead the company as its second CEO. I stepped into the role in November of last year.

Prior to moving back to the Bay Area I consulted international B2C companies looking to expand into the US market. Creating GTM strategies and clear branding positioning for these companies later proved an invaluable experience for when we rebranded CMA and launched Hikinex. Our new name reflected our expansion and depth in services and we worked hard to define this to prospective Clients and concurrently support our existing Clients.

Asif: What makes this particular concept different? Are there competitors? If yes, how do you stand out?

Jessica: Advances in communication technology made it possible for geographically dispersed teams to come together for work. We’re less confined by our physical limitations and now companies of all sizes, from startup to large enterprise, are seeking remote talent. Platforms like UpWork and Freelancer are great resources to find this talent.

Because our team members are full-time employees working within multi-levels of management, we can tailor support solutions to our Clients while delivering consistently. Our Clients don’t have to separately source, recruit, and manage the talent their organization needs because we provide a truly scalable and fully managed virtual and cross-functional team.

We believe that people and process together are the keys to success. Assembling a team that is comprised of great processes and even better people is one of the hardest things to do in business. At Hikinex we’re constantly striving to improve the connection between the two and that’s why we encourage and enable our team members to take charge of creating the best processes to better serve our Clients. We create dream teams uniquely suited to the needs of each of our clients, and our ability to provide marketing, sales, recruiting, back office, and bookkeeping services all within one team really sets our service apart from those of our competitors.

Asif:  What books have influenced your thoughts the most?

Jessica: W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne’s Blue Ocean Strategy

Andy Grove’s High Output Management

Eric Ries’s  Lean Startup

Eckhart Tolle’s A New Awakening – helpful in creating and maintaining relationships of all kinds (even work)

Asif:  What advice would you give startups when starting their journey

Jessica:

  • Welcome advice and new points of view. This doesn’t mean you have to act on them.
  • Hire people smarter than you.

Asif: What are your views about MarkTechPost?

Jessica:
